Sloan faucets are made by the Sloan Valve Company and have been trusted faucets for several decades. Probably one of the most popular and innovative faucets made by the Sloan Valve Company are the sensor operated hand washing faucets. Chances are you've seen these sink faucets in use at movie theaters, restaurants or other commercial businesses with busy restrooms. These are pretty nifty gadgets that allow you to wash your hands without touching a handle or knob. This certainly helps reduce the likelihood of becoming ill from bathroom germs.

The first time I saw a sensor operated hand washing faucet, I was visiting the ladies' room during a movie outing. I was baffled by the lack of handle or knob. Though I had not seen or heard of sensor operated sink faucets, I had seen the automatic toilet flushing devices, and figured that perhaps this was a similar device.

Lo and behold, it was! After sticking my hands underneath the sensor operated faucet, I was greeted by a pleasantly warm stream of water. Immediately I began to wonder just how such a marvelous invention functions. Obviously there was some sort of line of sight sensor that triggered the water to turn on when my hands were placed in a washing position over and somewhat lowered into the sink basin.

The ETF80 is probably the most popular of the sensor operated Sloan faucets. It has 24 VAC operation and is a chrome plated, brass bathroom faucet with a black engineered plastic plate that runs along the bottom portion of the faucet itself.

The ETF80 comes with automatic flow and aeration control. In the spout, there is a sensor that controls the amount of aeration that is produced. This is regulated in part by a 'splash-proof' control module that senses the force at which the water impacts the sink basin, and adjusts accordingly.

This model of Sloan faucets comes with the necessary power adapter and connecting materials. This includes a 24 VAC transformer in either a plug-in or box mount set up, as well as a 24 VAC solenoid valve with integral 'Y' filter.

You also must choose between an above deck mixing valve, below deck mixing valve, or a below deck thermostatic mixing valve. Mixing valves are where the cold and hot water are mixed to produce a comfortable level of warmth. A below deck thermostatic mixing valve mixes hot and cold water to a specific temperature that is set by you.
