Drip, Drip, Drip – there’s nothing like that annoying drip from that leaky faucet to drive you crazy when you are trying to sleep or visit with your friends. So rather than going nuts with that constant drip why not buy Rivo faucet parts?
You don’t have to call a plumber; you don’t have to spend a fortune on service calls; and you don’t have to listen to the drip. Just a few easy steps and you can become your own home plumber.
Before you start your repair you need to shut the water supply off for the sink you will be working at. The shut off valve can usually be found underneath the sink. If there isn’t one there then you will have to follow the plumbing lines until you find it.
Once you have located the valve you need to shut it off. If the valve is stiff because it hasn’t been used apply a couple of drops of penetrating oil. Then it should turn fairly easy. You may need to use a wrench.
Now that you have the water shut off you need to remove the stem which is found in the top of the fixture. See the nut? You will need to turn it counterclockwise to take it off.
If you have a ball type fixture you will find a setscrew on the lower part of the handle. You need to remove the screw. There is a plastic ring that you will need to unscrew and then remove it. Then you can pull out the ball assembly.
Hang on! You are nearly done. All that’s left to do is replace the washer. The washer will still be attached to the ball assembly that you just pulled. Remove the screw that’s holding it in place. Now put the new washer in place and tighten the screw. Don’t over tighten it.
Now it’s time to reinsert the stem assembly, twist clockwise, and tighten the nut so that’ its back in place. You’re done. All that you’ve got to do is turn the water valve back on.
If it is still leaking after all of that you are going to have to replace the valve seat or perhaps the fixture. Purchase a full repair kit online and there’s a full line of Rivo parts available at either your local hardware store or online.
If you have to replace the ball type fixture just use your screwdriver to lift the rubber seats and then replace with the new ones from the kit. You need to give the spout a tug by turning from side to side while lifting at the same time.
You need to get the O rings off the base using your screwdriver. You might have to cut them off. Now roll your new O rings over the base. Re-seat the faucet. You can do that by pushing down on the base and wiggling it side to side. Retighten the adjusting ring with the special tool that comes with it.
Turn the water on and keep your fingers crossed there are no leaks. No leaks means you’ve done a fine job and you are you new best friend the plumber.
So the next time you hear that annoying drip, drip, drip – it’s time to order your Rivo faucet parts and get repaired!
