No matter how you choose to mask that annoying, continuos dripping sound, it is still there. I do believe that there is actually a torture method involving this same, exact sound. So why would you want a leaky faucet in your home? If you knew the true cost of that leaky faucet, I bet you would find a way to fix that leak. Indeed, faucet repairs do not have to be expensive. Usually, they can be done in less than an hour with tools probably located in your house already.

A leaky faucet costs more than just your sanity. A leaky faucet can cost you hundreds of dollars annually on just wasted water. Not worried about your water bill? A leaky faucet can waste more than 50 gallons of water a day. That is more than doubling your water usage. That water has to come from somewhere. Most places in the world understand the need to conserve water. Water conservation makes you an environmentally friendly person. If each of use chose to save that much water in a day, we would make water shortages a thing of the past. Faucet repairs are essential to you, your family, your city, and your environment. Saving water, saves the planet.

I bet you think fixing a leaky faucet will cost a lot of money. If you thought that, you would be wrong. Fixing a leaky faucet can be quite inexpensive. Usually, most leaky faucets can be fixed with a simple rubber gasket or rubber ring. At the worse, you may need to replace the entire faucet if the problem has gone to long unchecked. A new faucet can be hand for as little as $10 USD. When you balance the cost with the benefits, fixing that leaky faucet makes good, old fashioned common sense.

The first step to fixing that faucet is figuring out where the leak is originating. The most common places for a leaky faucet is around the aerator. The aerator is a little nozzle that is at the end of the faucet where the water comes out. These come in all shapes and sizes, but usually it is removable. This is probably of the easiest leaks to fix. All that is needed is an 8" crescent wrench and some plumbers tape (sometimes called Teflon tape). On occasion, you may need to replace the aerator. This will require a trip to the hardware store. Be sure to take in your old one!

Depending on where the leak originates, you may find it necessary to open the cabinet and do some looking. Pots and pans underneath the sink is a good indication that you may need to do some faucet repair. Use your eyes and see where the leak is coming from. If it is the tubing, consider purchasing a tubing kit from a hardware store. Usually, you can just tell them why you need the tubing and they can provide you with option replacements.

As is obvious, faucet repairs are not difficult nor are the expensive. However, what you get in return is well worth any cost you may incur. Fixing that leaky faucet is a good, sound investment in not only your family, but the environment as well.
